Crimson Worlds VII: The Shadow Legions Released
The Shadow Legions is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Amazon
Barnes and Noble
It should be live on Kobo and Smashwords at any time.
For my dead tree fans, Amazon should have the print book available in 3 or 4 days. The audiobook is fully recorded, and it should be available within the next two weeks.
I'm going to leave this post for a few days to get the word out about the book, but starting next week, I'm going to start posting much more frequently on here. It sort of crept up on me, but quite a few of you come to this blog every day. I'm going to start talking about some other books (not mine) that I have really enjoyed, as well as keep you all better informed of what I'm working on.
Also, I want to remind you all...I have always hated waiting a year or more the the next book in a series, so I try to get mine out as quickly as possible. As such, I really have no extra time built into the schedule. So, if I get sidetracked with something...of if I just want to do some additional reworking (or make the book longer), it will affect the release date. I don't want to make you wait weeks more for most books because I padded the release date...and I don't want to not make changes I think improve the book. So, once in a while, a release date will slip. I apologize for when this does happen, and I assure you I do my best to get things out on time. Unfortunately, this is an inexact science.
I hope you like the book! You guys are why I do this.

The Shadow Legions
The war with the First Imperium is over, and Grand Fleet is
limping home from the frontier. Erik
Cain, Augustus Garret, and the rest of the high command are grimly satisfied
that humanity has been saved from the First Imperium menace. There is no joy, however…no elation at the
“victory.” The losses this time were too
heavy…too personal…to bear. They did what
had to be done to drive back the enemy and save the human worlds from certain
destruction. Now they were left to find
a way to live with the gut wrenching decisions that victory had required.
Augustus Garret needed time.
Time for repairs, time to replace losses, time to learn how to go on in
the aftermath of what he’d done. But the
fleet wasn’t heading for a well-deserved rest…they were moving into another
firestorm. A new menace, one as deadly
as the First Imperium, was waiting for them, and it threatened to shatter the
fragile alliance of the Earth powers and throw all of human space into another
desperate war…one that might be the final confrontation.
On world after world, mysterious forces are invading, taking
control of the most vital colonies. The
invaders are well-drilled powered infantry, veteran forces that quickly
shattered the planetary militias and established brutal occupation regimes.
Garret, Cain, and the leaders of the Alliance’s forces must
rally themselves once again to face this new threat…an unknown enemy that is as
well trained, experienced, and equipped as the Marines themselves. Indeed, on some colony worlds rumors are
already spreading that the invaders are the Marines themselves, that they have
come to conquer, to rule…
Crimson Worlds 7 Out
The Shadow Legions is live on Amazon and should be on the other retailers later or tomorrow. I'll follow up with a comprehensive post when it is live everywhere, but I've gotten so many emails I wanted to let you guys know ASAP.

Gehenna Dawn Audiobook
Gehenna Dawn is now available in Audio Format.
Amazon
I want to thank you all for your response to this new book and new series. Thanks to all of you, Gehenna Dawn reached number 70 overall on Amazon and number 56 on Barnes and Noble. That's an Amazon record for me, and I know I have all of you to thank for that.
The Shadow Legions
I haven't forgotten the Crimson Worlds series. Book 7 will be out in 7-10 days. I'd planned to get it out in December, but I decided to reorganize things a little. Books 7 and 8 are very much two volumes of the same story, and I wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. I want to thank you all for waiting so patiently (and occasionally not so patiently!). On the bright side, you're getting an extra 10,000 words or so, so I hope that makes the wait less painful.
Happy New Year to all of you.

Upcoming Works
I've been away from this blog for far too long, and I thought it was well past time I caught you guys up on what I'm working on.
The Shadow Legions
Crimson Worlds Book 7 will out the first week in January. Yes, I know it was supposed to be out the end of December, but I made some last minute revisions. Books 7, 8, and 9 all cover one big, climactic storyline, and I tinkered a little. That means re-editing some sections, and hence the very brief delay.
The Gates of Hell
The last of the three Crimson Worlds prequels will be out in mid-January. Tombstone followed Jax and Bitter Glory followed Admiral Garret. The Gates of Hell is a story from General Holm's past...and it links well with The Shadow Legions.
The Farthest Stars
Crimson Worlds Refugees
Many (many, many) of you have written me and asked if there was some way Admiral Compton and the trapped fleet might have escaped. A few of you even proposed possible strategies that might have been employed. As it so happens, you all created your own spoiler alerts, I have always planned a trilogy of novels following Compton and his band of refugees. Look for book one sometime the first half of next year.
The Ten Thousand
Portal Worlds II
I've been besieged with emails about the second book in the Portal Wars series. For those of you who have read and enjoyed Gehenna Dawn, the follow up will be out sometime fairly early next year. It's too soon to give a firm release date, but sometime around March-April is a good bet.
Dragon Rising
This is the first book of a series set in the near future. I'm not going to give too much away this early, but let's just say it explores some creative World War III scenarios.
And of course...Crimson Worlds VIII will be coming out as well, though I'm not going to say anything until Shadow Legions is out.
More to come on these books and on others planned for later in 2014.
